چکیده

We explore the relation between the linear length of radio core and the central black hole mass for a sample of radio-loud active galactic nuclei (AGNs). An empirical relation between the size of the broad line region (BLR) and optical luminosity is used to estimate the size of the BLR. The black hole mass is derived from Hβ line width and the radius of the BLR on the assumption that the clouds in BLRs are orbiting with Keplerian velocities. A significant intrinsic correlation is found between the linear length of the core and the black hole mass, which implies that the jet formation is closely related with the central black hole. We also find a strong correlation between the black hole mass and the core luminosity.

Evidence for Jet Domination of the Nuclear Radio Emission in Low-luminosity Active Galactic Nuclei

We present simultaneous, sub-arcsecond (≤ 50 pc) resolution 5 GHz, 8.4 GHz, and 15 GHz VLAa observations of a well-defined sample of sixteen low-luminosity active galactic nuclei (LLAGNs). The radio emission in most of these nuclei does not show the rising spectrum (0.2. s . 1.3, Lν ∝ νs) expected from thermal electrons in an advection dominated accretion flow (ADAF) with or without weak to mod...

On the Relationship between Radio Emission and Black Hole Mass in Galactic Nuclei

We use a comprehensive database of black hole masses (MBH) and nuclear luminosities to investigate the relationship between radio emission and MBH. Our sample covers a wide range of nuclear activity, from nearby inactive nuclei to classical Seyfert 1 nuclei and luminous quasars. Contrary to some previous studies, we find that the radio continuum power, either integrated for the entire galaxy or...

On radio and x-ray emission mechanisms in nearby x-ray bright galactic nuclei

It has been suggested that advection-dominated accretion flows (ADAFs) are responsible for the X-ray activity in nearby galactic nuclei. These X-ray bright galactic nuclei (XBGN) are a heterogeneous group which includes LINERs, low to moderate luminosity Seyferts, and narrow-line X-ray galaxies with 2 − 10 keV X-ray luminosities in the range ∼ 10 to ∼ 10 erg/s. In the absence of a radio jet, th...

Supermassive black holes in radio-loud AGN

In this review the correlations between host galaxy properties and black-hole mass determined from nearby quiescent galaxies are briefly discussed, before proceeding to investigate their application to active galactic nuclei (AGN). The recent advances in estimating the black-hole masses of AGN are then reviewed, followed by an examination of the connection between black-hole mass and radio lumi...

Constraints of the Radio-loud/Radio-quiet Dichotomy from the Fundamental Plane

The Fundamental Plane for black hole activity constitutes a tight correlation between jet power, X-ray luminosity, and black hole mass. Under the assumption that a Blandford–Znajek-type mechanism, which relies on black hole spin, contributes non-negligibly to jet production, the sufficiently small scatter in the Fundamental Plane shows that black hole spin differences of | a| ∼ 1 are not typica...
